Favignana is dominated by Mount St Catherine. Every year in May the ancient custom of tuna killing "la Mattanza" takes place here. On arrival in Favignana, the tourist can admire the regal elegance of the "Tonnara Florio" building, built in industrial style, or the elegance of "Palazzo Florio" built in liberty style. Favignana is famous for its beautiful clear blue sea, rich in history (in 241AC it was the setting for the naval battle between the Romans and the Carthaginians). Favignana's coves (Cala Azzura, Grotta Perciata, Cala rotonda) and are beautiful and peaceful and its breathtaking landscapes are full of colour.
